Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Rental Car Damage Insurance (CDW), Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI), and Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) policies are valid on per 24hour basis.

Coverage is based on 24-hour increments. For example, three (3) days of coverage purchased for July 1 at 10 AM means coverage ends on July 4 at 10 AM. Returns after 10 AM on July 4 would incur an extra day of insurance. (all times local).

Coverage is limited to trips up to a maximum of 30 days.

Insurance coverage must be purchased before the rental period begins. The rental period is defined as starting at the reservation date and time. Coverage must be purchased prior to the reservation date and time. If the vehicle pick-up is delayed until after the date and time of reservation, the delay does not change the start time of the coverage. If the vehicle is picked up or driven prior to the reservation date and time coverage is null and void.

At what time does the coverage become effective?
The coverage coincides with the date and pick-up time on the rental contract. If the rental car contract says the pick-up time is 1:00 PM, then the coverage starts at that time and is valid for a 24-hours.

Insurance coverage must be purchased before the rental period begins.

Rental Car Damage Insurance (CDW), Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI), and Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Coverage may be extended via the www.bonzah.com website for up to a combined total of 28 CONSECUTIVE days. All a renter needs to do is return to the bonzah.com website and purchase new policies for the additional period(s) that are required and ensure the current policy hasn't yet expired (purchase must occur prior to the expiration of the current policy). A NEW photo inspection at the time of extension is required at an additional fee.

Each “extension” of duration constitutes the issuance of a new policy and must begin when the current policy expires and is not technically an “extension” as Bonzah insurance policies are exclusively for auto rentals legally defined as “short-term” only.

Insurance coverage must be contiguous over the entire rental period for coverage to be valid. Any lapse in coverage during the duration of the entire rental period (original rental period and all extensions) may render the entire policy null and void.

The purchaser will be charged up to a $500 deductible for collision damage insurance (CDW) claims. There is a $0 deductible for any liability (RCLI and SLI) claims. There is up to a $25 deductible for any PAI claims.

Yes. The CDW covers up to $35,000 in damage to the rental car. There is the potential for loss for the fleet owner (you) for any vehicle worth or any rental vehicle damages costing more than $35,000. For example, if the vehicle is worth $40,000 and declared a total loss, you may not be able to recover the $5,000 difference. However, there may be ways to recover that amount if the renter has some other sort of insurance that isn’t excluded from the purchase of the CDW policy, credit card policies, the counterparty to the accident (if they are at fault), and their insurance.

Yes and No. Bonzah’s Renter’s Contingent Liability and Supplemental Liability policies, both cover damages resulting from driver liability in a single-car accident.

Bonzah’s Collison Damage excludes coverage for single car accidents.

No. Bonzah does not offer comprehensive insurance. Comprehensive policies are typically the insurance policies that cover vehicle theft. Comprehensive insurance is typically not offered in the rental car industry.

Bonzah offers a collision damage policy. This policy covers the rental car when the rental car has a collision with another vehicle. It does not cover single car accidents.

To make a claim, you will need to send us all relevant information to [email protected].

Required information is listed below:

  • Signed car rental agreement (copy) including rental start and end times. REQUIRED
  • Copy of the police report if another car is involved in an accident (details of other driver required on the police report). REQUIRED
  • Damage estimates for injuries to persons or damage to property. REQUIRED
  • Copy of a current auto insurance policy and/or copy of the credit card agreement used for rental. (If applicable)
  • Take photos of the scene at the time of claim/accident/incident and have a description of the circumstances. REQUIRED.
  • Bonzah will pass on relevant information to our 3rd party adjuster.
  • The adjuster will approve or deny the claim and the amount.

It depends on the claim, but it takes 4 – 6 weeks to pay out on average.

Bonzah uses a third-party adjuster because it provides the most transparency and fairness. The disadvantage is that Bonzah doesn’t control the process or outcomes of the claims process.

Yes, it could be. Some claims get paid out without photos and other information, but to increase the probability and timeliness of the payout, always include photos.

Remember, the rental car and insurance policy is in the name of the renter. It is in their best interest to provide you and us with this information as the renter may be liable for the cost of damages if they return a car damaged and insurance denies a claim. There may be ways to incentivize renters to do this. For example, you could include an accident processing surcharge in your contract if the renter fails to provide adequate information.
