However, we have a few restrictions regarding what we insure inside your overnight bag.

What We Insure in Your Overnight Bag: Exclusions

We think it’s only fair to exclude illegal stuff going in and out across U.S. borders. We checked with Transportation Security Administration (TSA), to get an idea of what they might confiscate from your car rental when arriving at the airport. We could not believe some weird stuff crazy people hide in their carry-on overnight bags.

# Would you believe us if we told you some parents tried to smuggle a baby onto an airplane in their travel bag. They forgot the visa for the kid, and they must have been in a panic to do something crazy as that. Emirates customs caught them out, and oh boy did have some explaining! A baby is definitely not part of what we insure inside your overnight bag.

# Not to be outdone, a la-di-dah lady tried to smuggle her designer pedigree dog from Tel Aviv to London in her overnight bag. She hoped to avoid having to pay for six months quarantine. Who knows, she might have even felt lonely without the mutt. She fooled Israeli airport security - was that a first? Then a passenger complained about smelling you know what in the overhead locker.

# Airport officials feared for the worst at Richmond, Virginia, when a man arrived in a hire car with a suicide belt in his overnight bag. When the x-ray revealed two handguns too, they evacuated the airport and called the feds. It turned out the man liked dressing weirdly and the gear was harmless. As the stuff was legit, we might have included it in what we what we insure inside your overnight bag, but no promises.

We only scratched the surface of the weird and wonderful things people transport in their car rentals. If you insure with us and need coverage for something unusual in your luggage, you may like to take a photo. Just in case our Bonzah assessor wonders whether the fourteen baby cobras, or famous work of art ever existed.
